Description
What Is Alprazolam Used For?
Alprazolam is sold under the brand Xanax, which belongs to the benzodiazepine class of drugs. It is commonly used to treat and manage anxiety disorder, depression, and panic disorder.
It is a fast-acting potent tranquilizer of moderate duration with the triazolobenzodiazepines group of chemicals called benzodiazepines. It is not recommended to use this medication without a doctor’s prescription.
Benzodiazepines contain several dangerous ingredients that a licensed pharmacy or medical store may not even sell or distribute. Alprazolam is a habit-forming drug, and when used regularly for a longer period of time, it can lead to dependency and addiction.
Alprazolam is available in two forms, such as extended-release tablets (that dissolve quickly in the mouth) and a concentrated liquid solution (to be taken orally).
Those who have been suffering from anxiety, depression, or panic disorder can safely use it on a doctor’s prescription for safe and effective treatment.
Mechanism Of Action
It works by increasing certain neurotransmitters in the brain called gamma-aminobutyric acid that increase normal excitement and provide instant relaxation from anxiety, depression, and panic disorders.
This medication helps in slowing down excessive brain activity and reduces feelings of stress and panic by producing a calming effect on the brain.
